Reflecting on love and life as new parents

Sharing stories from our Pride community

At Mamas & Papas we celebrate and embrace our entire community. We embrace uniqueness and encourage you to come as you are, so we love to hear your individual experiences of parenting and family life, in all its unique ways. As we celebrate each other, especially our Pride community, we’re sharing some of your inspiring journeys to and through parenthood and hearing, in your own words, what love means in your families.

"It’s a funny thing, love. You have your first baby and feel like no love in the world could ever top it. You almost wonder if you’ll regret breaking the precious bond you have with your first, by having a second. You could never share this love you have for them, never split it, never love another like it…and then along comes your second baby, and all your worries vanish. You didn’t need to share the love or split it, you didn’t need to even love another like it, because as your second is born you develop a whole new love, a different love, an equal love, but a complete new love itself. The love doesn’t divide when you become a parent of two, it simply doubles.

Giving my children each other is the very best thing I ever did. It isn’t a ‘me and you’ love anymore, it’s a sibling love, a bond that will never be broken. And as I look back, I know that my second baby is one thing in my life I will never regret, she was the making of our family”

“It feels like yesterday since we started planning on having children. We had to have IVF with us being two mums and it was the hardest process, both mentally and physically, but knowing it helped us have our two girls we are forever grateful. Being mummies is all we have ever wanted, a love like no other the best feeling in the world. Don’t get me wrong our days are busy, our home is messy, our bed is no longer ours, and ‘me time’ is a thing of the past but our hearts are certainly full. We want our children to grow up knowing that to love and be loved is the best gift in the world. Kindness, understanding and acceptance is everything, our family may look different, but our love is exactly same.”

"Oakley, you're our entire world! Your mummies and your family love the absolute bones off you. We cannot wait to watch you grow into the beautiful human you will be, but we also hope time slows down a little as your mummies are enjoying all the cuddles. You're our entire existence.”

“2 became 3 and it’s hard to remember what life was like before you came along- perhaps partly to do with the tiredness 😬🤣! You have turned our world upside down, we could never have anticipated the love we would feel since you came along. We are so proud to be your mummies and as scary as this IVF journey seemed at the start, every single appointment, injection and nail-biting scan has been worth it. Every parent wants to do everything they can to do right by their child and prepare them for the world and all the lessons that come with living in it. As your mummies we promise to teach you that there can never be enough love in the world, there can never be enough kindness and there can never be enough compassion.”

This Pride month we stand proud and celebrate each other. We will keep doing what we always do, standing together with all our mamas & papas, mamas & mamas, papas & papas, solo mamas and solo papas, caregivers and guardians, inspiring all to live and love how you choose and to take pride in being your true authentic selves and the very best you can be. We’ll continue on this journey standing together, taking Pride in our community. Because at Mamas & Papas, we’re Always Proud.
