What is Buying for Baby?
Buying for Baby is a unique personal shopping service for all your baby and nursery needs. During your appointment, our expert store advisor will chat to you and offer unbiased advice on the products you are interested in. If you don’t know what you’re looking for or where to even start, don’t worry! We can offer advice and ask you questions that will help us get an idea of what you’ll need based on you, your budget, home and lifestyle.
Why do you offer four different types of Buying for Baby appointment?
We want to make sure your appointment is tailored to you and that we cover exactly what you need. We offer both in-person and virtual appointments and they range in length, from our 30-minute Short and Sweet express appointment to The Full Works, a 90-minute appointment where we have the time to cover every type of product - a great place to start if you don’t know where to begin. Our Out and About 60-minute appointment allows you to focus on travel essentials, from test-driving our huge range of award-winning pushchairs to demonstrating car seats in your own car. Our virtual appointment, At-Home Ease, is a 45-minute video call where you can see us and the store but we can’t see you. This appointment is perfect if you can’t make it into a store but want to experience a Buying for Baby appointment from the comfort of your home.
I’m a first-time parent and don’t know where to begin. Can you help?
Buying for Baby service is ideal for first-time parents as we can talk you through what you may and may not need based on what you tell us, so our product advice is totally relevant and tailored to you. We will demonstrate products from plenty of trusted baby brands and you can ask as many questions as you like.
Can I amend, reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Of course. If you think you’ve booked the wrong type of appointment, don’t worry. One of our store colleagues will contact you in advance to chat through what you want from the appointment and, if necessary, they can amend your booking.
You can also reschedule or cancel your appointment, either by contacting the store or by clicking on the reschedule or cancel button in the confirmation email we sent you when you booked.
What can I expect to happen during my personal shopping appointment?
We’ll show you products that are relevant to what you’ve come to discuss. We’ll offer unbiased advice based on what you tell us you’re looking for, and if you don’t know what you’re looking for, we can ask you questions that will help us get an idea of what we think we will be most suited to you, your budget, home and lifestyle. Feel free to ask any questions at all during your appointment – remember this personal shopping appointment is all about you and your baby!
Can I bring someone along to my appointment?
Yes, of course. Whether you want to bring your partner, parent or a friend, they’ll be very welcome. And if this isn’t your first pregnancy and you already have a little one, of course they’ll be welcome to come along too!
Do I need to book an appointment in advance, or can I just turn up on the day?
You do need to book an appointment, either online or by contacting your local store, as that’s the only way we can guarantee our expert advisors will be available when you need them.
How much do Buying for Baby appointments cost?
All of our Buying for Baby appointments are free and there’s also no obligation to purchase during your visit to store.
Which stores are Buying for Baby appointments available in?
Appointments are available at all UK & Ireland Mamas & Papas stores, apart from Carlisle. You’ll be able to search for your nearest store at the time of booking.
Do I have to purchase anything during my appointment?
No, there is no obligation to purchase anything on the day. And if you do see something you like but would like some more time to think about it, you’re welcome to come back at a later date to purchase, or browse online. If you do decide to make a purchase during your appointment we have payment options available to help make paying for items easier, as well as a gift voucher on qualifying purchases.
When will I receive my gift voucher?
If you place an order during your appointment and your order qualifies for this offer, your gift voucher will be sent to the email address on your account once your items have been delivered. Please be sure to check your spam/junk folder if this does not arrive as expected. If your order is cancelled for any reason, you will not receive your gift voucher. This will be cancelled at the same time as your order.
How much are the gift vouchers worth?
If you’ve made a qualifying purchase, the amount the voucher you’ll receive is worth will depend on how much you have spent in store that day.
Spend £1000 to get a £100 gift voucher

What payment options are available for orders made in store?
10% Deposit Option
To help you plan for your new arrival, we offer the option to pay a deposit of (minimum) 10% for your item(s) and then make payments for as much or as little as you want when it’s suitable for you. All we ask is that the full amount is paid on collection of your item(s) from the store or 28 days before the delivery date of your order. If family and friends would like to help out, they can also make payments towards your item(s).
Pop in store and speak with one of our experts who will be happy to help set up this option for you and answer any questions you may have. Once set up, you can make payments online using My Account, by visiting any Mamas & Papas store or by calling our Customer Service team. Please note that this is not a finance option and is only available in store.
Klarna
We also offer Klarna as a payment option. This is only available in UK stores so please visit your local store for further details.
Are there any restrictions to receiving a Buying for Baby voucher?
Our Buying for Baby vouchers cannot be issued if a price match is applied at time of purchase. At Mamas & Papas we strive to ensure you receive the best offer. During your Buying for Baby appointment our advisors will work to ensure you receive the best value. This may include our price match, best price guaranteed offers, or the issuing of our Buying for Baby gift vouchers. We know our customer needs differ, and we are committed to delivering the best offer every time.
How does a Virtual Appointment work?
When you book your appointment, you’ll receive a confirmation email that will have a link to click at the time of your booked appointment. Once you've clicked the link, you'll see a pop up on your screen which you click 'Join virtual appointment' and to allow access to your microphone. You'll then be put through to our In Store Expert and they will begin your Buying for Baby appointment virtually.
Will I be seen on camera during a Virtual Appointment?
No, this is a one-way video call where you will be able to see the staff member and store but we won’t be able to see you. We will only require your microphone to be working for the call so that we can hear you.
Is the Virtual Appointment the same experience as coming to store?
Yes, you’ll be able to ask all the same questions and ask the store expert to demo products that you’d like to see. The only difference being you won’t be getting hands on yourself with the product.
You’ll be given a pre-call to your appointment from the team so that we can get the products ready for your appointment, if you know what you’d like to look at that is! You’ll also receive a reminder email 24hrs before to help make the most of your upcoming appointment.
What should I do if I experience a technical issue?
If you drop off the call during your appointment, simply refresh your screen or click on your link in the email to join the call again. If that fails, the Mamas & Papas store expert will have your details to call the phone number provided on your booking should they be struggling to get back in touch with you.
What if I lose the appointment link?
If you’ve lost your appointment confirmation email, you should receive your reminder email 24hrs before your appointment which will feature the same link. Failing that, you can raise this issue when the Store expert calls you to chat through your upcoming appointment and they can resend you the link.
